Sorry, folks, still working on that thesis. >___<

Recently, on a German beauty blog I follow, someone mentioned a spelling mistake the blogger makes a lot, and pretty much every other comment was about how this one person who dared to highlight the mistake should stop caring so much or just open a spelling blog instead.

I don't think that a typo is the end of the world, but I do like to read blogs that are as mistake-free as possible, and I would definitely appreciate it if you pointed out any mistakes to me, especially since I'm writing this blog in a language that's not my native one.
So while I agree that a mistake is not a big deal, I don't think we should go and attack someone who points one out in a nice way.

This also made me think how some beauty bloggers are totally meticulous about their eye make-up or foundation routine, but don't care about spelling or grammar all that much. Why can't we put a little effort into both? It's a way of showing respect to your readers, if you ask me.
Plus, considering beauty bloggers probably have a bit of a "dumb" image already, we should really try and show the world that make-up is not all we have in (or on) our heads, shouldn't we? We are smart, too, and we don't want to feed any stupid rumours by making stupid mistakes in our entries, don't you agree?

    This its the time I ever stumbled over an article like this on a beauty blog!
    I do agree with you - especially since I am quite reluctant to tell ANYONE about me blogging about beauty "issues"... And that is because cosmetics do have a rather bad image - the dumb blonde... the superficial made-up girl... the grown woman denying her real age... the ageing beauty... I really don't want to be put there...
    I love language and it's different ways. My English might be rusty right now in this comment (my apologies!), but I really do try to write my articles as good as I can manage at that moment - if I find a spelling mistake later I immediately correct it. - Your comparison about the perfect Eye Make Up and a sloppy language is accurate... I enjoy blogs that give the honest impression of being written by someone I could like if I'd ever meet her. Language, humour, a sense of aesthetics is part of that. Speech - written one not less than spoken - is elementary.

    Your blog always has impeccable language. :)
    I wouldn't even mind the occasional mistake - what I mind is a blogger who goes berserk on someone who points out a typo, and not even in a rude way. But well, I guess some people just like to live in their own little world. Or maybe I'm just overly concerned with formalities.

Share: Do you have any skin allergies?

Luckily, I don't have any (known) food allergies, nor do I suffer from hay fever or the likes. I am, however, very sensitive to skin care and make-up ingredients, it seems. During my four weeks of "holiday" between the end of the semester and the start of my internship on Tuesday, I was mostly at home, and my skin greatly improved from not wearing make-up and sunscreen all the time. Yet, when I did go out and thus put on my BB cream (I still owe you a review, I know!), I had a new breakout. :( Both my sunscreens and the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream contain zinc oxide, and I know that ParisB from mywomenstuff is, for example, sensitive to it, despite people usually claiming it to be good for the skin. The quest for pale foundation - part 1: Maybelline Pure Make-up

Okay, so here is post #1 of my pale foundation series! I apologize in advance for the lack of photos, but my camera just doesn't get the colours right no matter what I do. :( To show you my skin colour, here's a reference picture: I was wearing Missha's Perfect Cover BB Cream in 21 here, mixed with sun screen to make it brighter - glad they introduced # 13 now! You can see I am not white pale, but quite pale with neutral undertones, which makes an extra challenge as many foundations tend to be yellow or pink. :(   Maybelline Pure Make-up in Porcelain Ivory (Light 1) I've used this foundation some years ago, but stopped because the colour match wasn't so great - for some reason, they never sell all shades in Germany, and finding a really pale foundation here is probably harder than the search for the infamous holy grail.
